It seems like it is hard to find realistic aluminum trailer wheels that look like Alcoa wheels. Has anyone found wheels that look like Alcoa wheels with baby moon hub caps, that don’t cost a fortune?
Whenever I do find wheels for my trailers that I like they always get discontinued it seems.
I have been making my own baby moon hubcaps by grinding down stock hub caps and polishing them but I would rather just be able to buy them. Below are two wheels with low profile tires on them which I use for my drop decks. The one on the left would be good if I could get baby moon hub caps on it and lug nuts. The one on the right is a wheel where I make the hub caps.
Wish I could find wheels and hub caps like these below, that weren’t 65.00 per set.
What have any of you found that are similar and are in production and reasonably priced?
Darwin. This is James. Your building my trailers. I’ve been looking for your hub caps an have no luck. Just like I’m trying to find 1/14 scale Day cabs with American domestic bodies cabs. I can’t find them to buy neither??

Hi James! yes it is a problem it seems. You might try Shapeways for day cabs, they are 3d printed, I have gotten some of their items, you just have to spend time with body filler and sanding to get a really smooth finish. I have a sleeper and hood and fenders. After much sanding and filler and resanding they are very smooth and ready for paint. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/truescalerc?page%5Bnumber%5D=2&page%5Blimit%5D=48&page%5Border%5D=asc

Oh, good idea Daniel, thanks! Just have to think outside the box a bit sometimes!
Have you tried contacting IHB Scale Models ? I know Steve passed away a couple months ago but I read online that his family was continuing his work.

Thanks Brandon,
No I haven’t, but Pete Walsh just emailed me about someone named Steve had been making this style of wheel, and I bet it is the same person. I will be talking to Pete later today and see if this is who he was talking about.
Thanks!
Darwin
I haven’t been able to find anything like that myself either I would also like to know
Hi Michael,
Try this Facebook address here that Brandon gave me above, https://www.facebook.com/groups/rctrucksandconstruction/permalink/2137181406601797/ Looks like they have some wheels. I wonder if they are nicely polished, I can’t tell from the pictures, here is the website address also, http://www.ihbscalemodels.com
Thanks,
Darwin
